Cardiac Ironman
Do It Like It Means Something...LIVE Like It Means Something...Because It Does!
Welcome To My World!
Before doing anything else, I want to thank you all for being part of a great chapter in my life! The impact of these last few years has brought me to where I am now, and how I feel about the future... and it would not have happened without your support and ongoing encouragement. A virtual hug for each of you!
The abbreviated version... I had the opportunity to pursue a dream... no, that's not true - I never had any idea I would do this until late 2010... but I did it!
I participated in the full-distance triathlon known as Ironman Florida, in November 2011. An Ironman triathlon involves a 2.4-mile swim, followed by a 112-mile bike ride, and finishes with a 26.2-mile run - all of which must be completed in 17 hours! My expectation was to complete the race at about 16:30, so I was REALLY happy (and VERY surprised!) to see that finish-line clock under 15 hours! I am blessed not only with having the opportunity to accomplish something very few even have the desire to attempt, but also with being fortunate enough to do so with tremendous support from my family, friends and others I have met along the way.
The 2011 chapter was a fantastic experience! And the ride was not over! I promised you, 2012 was going to be a fun, busy year - and it WAS! Read about that part of this great journey here.
But It Isn't Just About Me...
This has also been my opportunity - OUR opportunity - to continue the fight against cardiovascular disease!
As a two-time survivor of cardiac events, I am a sincere believer in the fact that with education, exercise and a little bit of inspiration, many at-risk individuals can take the steps to prevent heart disease from taking them from their loved ones. Check out the American Heart Association's statistics; this stuff is scary. Contrary to popular belief, cancer is NOT the biggest risk for women... car accidents and airplane crashes are small potatoes... Cardiac disease takes more of our family and friends than all those combined!
Too many children suffer from some type of Congenital Heart Disease, or through inactivity put themselves at risk of heart disease. This we can do something about!
...And This Is How We Are Going To Do It!
HEART: Flatline to Finish Line is an upcoming documentary that will follow a group of cardiac survivors from registration to finish line of one of the most difficult athletic challenges ever: Ironman! br> These everyday athletes will spend a year training and preparing to meet pain and suffering like never before. Coming from all corners of the country, these athletes will meet together at the starting line to the rest of their lives. Eight athletes, one goal. Making it to the finish line of Ironman Arizona in November 2012, a 140.6 mile endurance race that will test their minds, bodies, and most importantly their hearts. They will prove that with a strong mind, grit and determination, you CAN accomplish the impossible!
You can be a part of this! We need your support to complete the filming, the editing, and the promotion when we are ready to release this huge story. Visit the website, watch the trailer, and see the potential of what this story can do! Click the image above.

It Is A Mindset To Embrace
Stop Thinking In Terms Of Limitations;
Start Thinking In Terms Of Possibilities.
There are many ways you can support the fight against cardiovascular disease... eat healthy... start a regular exercise plan... join a fitness club... most importantly, work with your doctors and get educated!
You don't have to "compete"... but you DO have to "participate"!
I don't expect to ever have a podium finish. The only person I compete with when I am out there swimming, biking or running, is myself. I know I am the only one who can make me want to do these things. I enjoy watching others get out there with me, whether they are faster or slower. You meet a great bunch of people when you are a back-of-the-pack runner like myself... you have plenty of time to talk with those around you!
It doesn't matter whether you swim, bike, run or even walk...
do SOMETHING!
